Not All Teddy Bears are for Children

Not all teddy bears are designed for children. Artist teddy bears are designed for adult collectors. They often have glass eyes and sometimes have pellets in the stuffing to add weight to the teddy bears. These are potential choking hazards for young children.

so what do you do if you wanna make a special bear for someone’s young child or baby?

I make sure to enclose a card, (and make sure the parents are aware) which says:

”This teddy bear is meant for display like a porcelain doll.
It contains glass eyes and steel and or glass pellets which are a choking hazard.

Surface clean only not washable.”

Closing your Teddy Bear’s Arms, Legs and Back

When you make teddy bears and other stuffed animals, you have to leave an opening in the arms, legs and the back of the teddy bear so you can stuff him and assemble him.  When you are all done putting your teddy together and stuffing him,  then you need to close up the seams.  Here is how I close the seams of my stuffed animals with an invisible ladder stitch.
