Thank you Laura Lynn!! I actually stopped making wreaths when I started making wreath attachments because everyone just kept me so busy. There’s not much in my shop because I was invited to be a vendor at Crafters Convention 2020 this year, which is a crafting event a lot of wreath makers attend. You are welcome to check my shop out though of course it’s HomeStyleWreaths.etsy.com and I never in a million years thought I’d be sewing stuffed animals!!

May 27, 2020 at 10:35 am #5043Good morning everyone! My name is Natalie and I am 39 years old. I have a lovely little family which consists of my 4 year old daughter (quality control for the teddy bears), my husband (who puts up with my creativity exploded around the house), 3 dogs and a tortoise. I have just decided to get into artist quality bears and plushies since my health has forced me to leave my career of 12 plus years as a vet tech. I have always been an artist but mostly painting and other crafts. The teddy bears allow a very unique design and textural experience for me and … who doesn’t love a cuddle? I will be starting a business out of this and selling at craft shows and farmers market. I have been extremely picky about my teddy bear style and just haven’t liked what the pattern companies have produced. I feel like I have come home in a way when finding this place. I look forward to learning new things every step of the way.
May 27, 2020 at 3:35 pm #5044Welcome Natalie!
Your family sounds lovely! Yes, quality control is a must with teddy bears. I’m happy to hear that you have a good inspector 🙂 I’m sorry to hear about your health issues – and that they forced you to leave your career. I’m looking forward to seeing you grow your new business.
What part of the world do you live in? We are all over… I live near Lexington, KY.
June 20, 2020 at 1:26 pm #5087Hi everyone – my name is Hugh Robinson (just turned 59 for the record) and I live in Telscombe Cliffs which is 6 miles East of Brighton in East Sussex UK. I live here with my wife Christine and 3 nutty dogs! We enjoy walking our dogs along the Cliff tops and on the Telscombe Tye – which is part of the South Downs National Park. We moved here from London in 2006.
I have always been a “Beary” person and have collected quite a few Bears over the years – I have a few Steiffs amongst my collection -courtesy of Birthday and Christmas presents….!
I have always hankered at making Bears and in 2015 I spent a weekend with Bear Artist Barbara Ann of Barbara Ann Bears from Kent UK attempting to make a Bear – I think Barbara Ann made most of my Bear! But I went home happy and quite pleased with myself despite my half hearted attempt.
Anyhow here I am signed up with Teddy Bear Academy ready to have another proper go thanks to Laura Lynn’s very informative video’s – they are the best I’ve seen – so here goes. And yes, I would quite like to one day be able to make my own Bears to sell – only in a small way ….Hopefully nice and slowly I’ll get there!
June 21, 2020 at 11:39 pm #5088Hello Hugh,
So nice to have you in our group! It sounds like you live in a beautiful area. How nice to have some Steiffs in your collection! That’s great to have been able to attend one of Barbara Ann’s classes. Thank you for your words about my videos. I’m looking forward to making bears with you – and maybe selling some too!
November 27, 2020 at 6:21 am #5236Hi everyone,
I’m Kristie also from Seattle, WA. I’ve been making jointed bears for about 30 years. My friends dad taught both of us how to make a jointed bear. I’m married 45 years, 2 kids and now 8 grandkids! 3 yrs to 25 yrs old. I know right??? Well I’m done making masks for the time being, and we are still in lock down so I have been learning to make handbags since March. They are a challenge and got the email about the black Friday discount and thought why not? about the price of a nice dinner out (oh please lets be able to do that again soon!!) So I’m going to learn how to personalize and create one of a kind teddy bears for my family and friends.
I’ve made a couple of memory bears in the past, but they weren’t for playing with really. One for a couple that lost their first baby in the last trimester. Broke my heart for them so I made a bear with the babies name and date on the foot pads so they would have something to hold in their grief. That was probably 11 yrs ago and that bear is still in the Christmas photos they send out. I was pleased it gave them such comfort, didn’t expect that really. I almost made a quilt for them.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing everyone’s work!
Happy Thanksgiving
Goodnight
November 27, 2020 at 8:31 pm #5237Hi Kristie,
Welcome to Teddy Bear Academy! Wow, 8 grandkids already? That is wonderful. Wow what an age span 🙂
What a heartfelt gift you created for that poor couple. It is obvious how much they loved their memory bear.
I’m happy to have you join us to make one of a kind bears for your friends and family! I’m looking forward to seeing your bears.
February 19, 2021 at 4:11 pm #5306Hi. My name is Tiffany, I am 21 years old and I live in Burlington, Ontario. I have been making stuffed animals for years but have only recently started making teddy bears. I started to make bears when after my mom showed me her Deb Canham bear collection and I wanted to make her a special bear for her birthday. I’m hoping to learn tips to better my sewing.
February 19, 2021 at 5:48 pm #5307Hi Tiffany and welcome!
That is a wonderful idea! I have a few Deb Canham bears in my own collection too. Your Mom will love the bear that you make her.
February 22, 2021 at 2:33 am #5309So sorry Lisa about your cancer. I hope you will feel better.
I am very familiar with cancer: colon and both breasts. I have slowly started working on a bear that I had started before September 2020.
Lisa, you are in my prayers.

February 23, 2021 at 4:14 pm #5310Gisele I am sorry to hear about your health issues. You are in my prayers. I’m glad to hear that you are starting to feel well enough to start working on your bear again. I hope your health and energy continue to get better!
February 25, 2021 at 8:27 pm #5313Please welcome Emma! I’m posting her introduction for her:
Hi Laura Lynn,
I am new to teddy bear making. I found a book by Sue Quinn and made a bear and rabbit out of felt based on her book and patterns. I needed cotter joints and started googling sources for them. Before that I was not aware of the interest in handmade teddy bears. I joined your site to try to get more information about the proper way to make them. I have one piece of fur I ordered from Sassy Bears and I want to make sure I know what I’m doing before cutting into that piece.
I do not plan to make and sell teddy bears, I will just make a few for myself. I have been sewing since I was 9-10 years old and have a lot of other projects to do!
February 25, 2021 at 8:32 pm #5314Hi Emma,
I loved reading your story about how to kind of fell into making teddy bears!
I understand how nervous one can be before starting to cut into an expensive piece of bear making fabric! I hope you really enjoy bear making. I have found it to be quite therapeutic to both make them and also to view them in the displays I make in my home.
If you have any questions, you can post the question in the forum for the class you are watching, or just post it here in the general forum: https://teddybearacademy.net/forums/forum/general/ -
